Judges included Bryn Williams and Tina Sturt of Bodyworks, the largest supplier of beauty therapy equipment and products in the northwest.
Make up artist Sarah Baxter and former mask parade winner Sam Riley also helped out.
The four experts placed 19-year-old Louise Robinson and her peacock design in first place with cat-themed entries from Sam McMullen and Louise Gladwin in third and second.
Winner Louise, of Crosby, said: "Everyone was really excited about the competition from the start and lots of different ideas have been flying around.
"I started to look into different themes and my concept started with a peacock feather and developed from there.
"I am thrilled with the result. I have really enjoyed doing something a little different on the course, alongside the more conventional treatments that we give to the clients, especially since I hope to go into theatrical make up once I complete my time here at Southport College."
All students received a college certificate and will use their masks in assessed portfolios.
Barbara Gill, lecturer for Beauty Therapy said: "I was extremely proud of the effort that all the students put into the competition and the standard of the work was excellent."
