Alan Foxall, chairman, said: “Once again the show was a success with a record number of visitors.
“After the drab and cold winter weather it was lovely to see all the spring flowers on display.”
The daffodil championships were popular and many different varieties were on display from the exotic dove wings to the pink-cupped daffodil.
The Daffodil Society medal for the best exhibit of the flower in the show went to Alan Foxall.
Trophies and prizes were presented to the winning exhibitors by Southport councillor David Pearson and his wife Barbara.
Cllr Pearson said: “It was an excellent day and a lovely show. The blooms were in exceptionally good condition considering Easter was early this year. The sun was shining and the crowds were coming in all the time.
“There were two things that struck me. There was a giant orchid there which was very tall. Also, a big potato that a little girl had decorated was exceptional and a lot of time and effort had gone into it. That was one of my favourite things in the show.”
The floral art section also proved popular and flower arranger Kath Dean won the category.
Cake makers entered the competition with their selection of delicious treats.
Craft classes were a new addition to this year’s show and displayed hand-made Easter eggs, cards, gifts and bonnets.
