CRICKET: HIGHTOWN Cricket Club is gearing up for its new season in the Liverpool and District ECB Premier League by launching an ambitious community programme to help make improvements to its Sandy Lane ground.

The club has signed up to the Nat West-sponsored Cricket Force event, which it plans to run over the weekend of the of April 1 and 2, just before the season is launched. The scheme aims to assist cricket clubs by helping them appeal to local businesses and volunteers.

Nick Gordon, chairman of cricket at Hightown, said: "With a ground force meets the changing rooms brief, we will be encouraging all our members to approach businesses, contacts and the wider community to help us by way of their time, or the donation of materials such as tools or paint."
