HIGHTOWN had a convincing seven wicket win against relegation threatened St Helens Recs last weekend.
After Recs were bowled out for only 102 after 40.4 overs, Hightown made 104-3 in little over 18 overs thanks to Pathan (54 not out) and Sutcliffe (20).
Pathan (3-29) and Sutcliffe (3-39) had earlier struck decisive blows to the St Helens innnings, giving Hightown a maximum 25 points.
Meanwhile, the second team visited Leigh last Saturday. Hightown won the toss and elected to field, Leigh scored 199 all out off 38 overs. Hightown’s two young opening bowlers Andy Glennon and Oliver Tenwick both produced two good spells, with Glennon taking four wickets and Tenwick three wickets.
In reply to Leigh’s total, Hightown could only muster 96 all out, with no batsman reaching 20.
Although the game was lost, there were a couple of outstanding displays from Chris Blackburn and Jay Sellah. Hightown’s second team play host to Lytham this Saturday.
