Sunrise service on Crosby beach

Apr 12 2007

by Gillian Stratton, Crosby Herald

WORSHIPPERS attended a picturesque sunrise service on Crosby beach.

Three large crosses dominated the Crosby coastline and Antony Gormley’s statues provided a dramatic back-drop for the Easter Sunday service.

To start the series of Easter events in Crosby, churches in the area joined together for a Walk of Witness on Good Friday..

Hundreds of people were led through Crosby village by Rev Jon Morgan of Blundellsands United Reformed Church.

The newly-formed In Another Place Charity also created a prayer hut at the Coastguard station car park for people to reflect on the crosses and what it means to them. The crosses and prayer hut were at Crosby beach throughout the Easter week, encouraging people to think about the meaning of Easter.
