Urban artist will be a dot show exhibitor

Jun 11 2009

by Lyndsay Young, Bootle Times

AN URBAN-inspired artist based in Bootle is to showcase a series of his paintings and photographs.

Nathan Pendlebury, will exhibit his abstract work created in Merseyside, New York and Italy at dot-art’s first solo show of 2009.

The artist who lives and works from his studio base in Bootle has won acclaim for his work.

He was selected to show his work in the 2007 International Chelsea Fine Art Competition in New York, was a prizewinner for the third and fourth National Wirral Open Exhibitions, and was short-listed for a prize in the 2007 Sefton Open.

Last year Nathan was also commissioned by John Lewis, Liverpool, to create a series of paintings for their Espresso Bar.

The exhibition is open to the public at dot-art, in Queen Avenue, Castle Street from Monday, June 15 to Friday, July 17.

Nathan said: “My painting, drawing and photography looks toward the presence of man within an urban and suburban environment, without necessarily being direct in figurative terms.”

Lucy Byrne of dot-art said: “We have been working with Nathan for nearly three years now, and I am personally a huge fan of his work. We are delighted to be able to share this collection of contemporary art work with a wider audience by staging a solo exhibition. Nathan’s accessible, attractive and minimalist style makes his work ideal for modern interiors and a fantastic addition to any home or business.”

Born in Chester in 1973, Nathan studied Fine Art at Warrington Collegiate Institute and Liverpool John Moores University.

He grew up in Chester, Salford, Manchester, and Warrington but now lives in Bootle.

Viewing at the exhibition is from midday to 6pm, from Monday to Friday and by appointment. Visit www.dot-art.com or call 0845 0176660 for more details.
