Memorial to fallen

 Previous 1 2

A number of years ago, the 'Irish Stone' committee was formed to represent this community.

Headed by Jimmy, Alan Kelly and Owen Lloyd, the committee won the support of dignitaries including several Sefton mayors and Bootle MP Joe Benton.

The family of Owen Lloyd, who passed away in 2004, donated the cost of the stone in his memory.

Until its erection on Friday, the stone, which was imported, is being looked after by staff at Crosby Memorials, Liverpool Road.

The committee would like to thank Sefton Council for providing a place for the stone in King's Gardens.

The annual St Patrick's Day Parade and remembrance service, and a dedication of the stone will take place this Sunday, March 19, at 12.30pm.
