A BOOTLE dancer will star in a TV documentary after being crowned king of disco.
Adam Sorrel won the title “Disco King” in one of the most hotly contested competitions of the freestyle dancing calendar.
The 18-year-old, who has also auditioned for Sky1’s Got To Dance, scooped the title at the annual Disco Kid, King and Queen event held at Blackpool’s Tower Ballroom.
Channel 4 is due to broadcast a behind-the-scenes programme following dancers on their journey towards the DKKQ grand finals early next year.
Adam said: “I can’t believe I’ve won. I’ve worked so hard to achieve my dream of being crowned disco king.”
The DKKQ competition attracts thousands of dancers from all over the UK, as well as Norway and other European countries.
Adam is a student of Technique Dance based at Millington’s Dance Academy in Bootle.
The teenage Liverpool Community College student took up dancing when he was six.
He said: “I went along with my sister to a freestyle disco dancing class and I’ve been going ever since. Dancing makes me really happy and I can’t live without it.”
He added: “When I finish at college I want to go to a training school in London and do contemporary dance.”
Adam’s dance instructor Paul Critchley added: “My colleague Jamie Anderson and I are so proud of all Adam’s achievements.”
